Our Story
In 2020 the Mill River Conservation Group was formed to see if there was anything that could be done to improve the habitat and protect the natural biodiversity through conservation led projects.
The Mill River Conservation Group was established to take responsibility for the conservation and protection of the natural habitat and biodiversity of the Mill and Owenkillew catchment.

We as a group will be opposed to any work that interferes with the natural habitat of the Upper Mill river catchment especially in the area of the Mill River Fish pass, as we the Group
have dedicated time and training to gain our study to improve the movement of fish within the river.
As a group we understand that the flooding studies must be carried out and we welcome the protection of private properties and businesses, but not at the loss of natural habitat.

Life Under Water
As a River Conservation Group we are committed to the management of our Owenkillew/Mill catchment ecosystem to enhance further fish nursery habitat for trout/salmon and the now endangered European Eels and carry out more river nature based solution measures.
Climate Action
All of our projects and daily activities are based around climate action, we contribute by our volunteering hours given towards better climate actions and solutions

Life on Land
We are committed to looking after biodiversity, making a promise to plant more trees each year along our river catchment and work together with other community groups and organise nature based projects to conserve better natural habitats along with making it educational and offering a better future for others.
Clean Water and Sanitation
Our group prides itself on our catchment management collecting data year on year testing our water quality, giving the message to promote proper in-house water use, what not to flush.
