Conserving and protecting nature's natural resources that surround our local environment.
Waterways - Maintaining and restoring fish habitats for fish spanning, enhancing our eco-systems along the catchment and carrying out regular sampling to determine water quality
Trees - maintaining trees and we have been planting more Irish native trees and taking care of the overall biodiversity that make up the overall Mill River catchment..
Wildlife - To help maintain a safe habitat for the local wildlife and report any changes or dangers to our local national parks and wildlife service.
What type of conservation group are we?
We are an Environmental conservation group.
What Species are well known to the Mill river catchment?
Brown Trout - (Salmo trutta)
Sea Trout (Salmo Trutta trutta)
European Eels (Anguilla anguilla) all usually found in the lower Mill River
Can I fish at the Mill River?
No, it’s closed to fishing by the Inland Fisheries Board of Ireland (IFI)
What are our plans for the future?
To conserve our local river and biodiversity and continue to monitor the water quality of the catchment, promote events for citizen science projects and continue to educate about the ecology of our river and contributory streams, to grow our group’s volunteers and board members and provide a good quality of standards for our local community.
